"Karl Thompkins was a low level thug, and it was beginning to look like he would never be anything else. The thugs a little higher up in the foodchain used to call him a dinosaur, telling him he needed a bit more sophistication to make it in their world. In desperation, the none-to-bright Karl made an attempt to grab a little patch for himself in the city, but was tricked and defeated by the local mob. He was brought to the main bridge, fitted with a pair of 'concrete shoes,' and sent for a nap with the fishes. Much to Karl's surprise, as he sank into the river, he noticed that the recent storm had caused the rapid tides to uncover massive dinosaur bones on the bed, and lying there at the heart of a massive ribcage was a pulsating canister of Energy X. Long story short, he landed on it, was changed into a vastly powerful reptillian form, and broke his bonds. He set himself up as a new figure in the underworld, still not much smarter, but now with the raw power to get his way."
